Early Childhood Education

Most of what I really need
To know about how to live
And what to do and how to be
I learned in kindergarten
— Robert Fulghum

In America, allowing a child to attend preschool for one year can cost over well over $10,000. In Senegal, a child can attend preschool for just $100 a year.

What We've Done

Even at just $50 US dollars a year, many families in Lambaye cannot afford to provide their children with a preschool education.  However, because of the support we've received from local community members, Students for Senegal has been able to fund the preschool education of more than 100 of these children!

These children will now have access to the experiences and skills they need to succeed in all their educational endeavors and beyond. Below please see the entire group we funded last year on their first day of school ever!

The Lambaye Learning Center serves as the focal site for pre-K education. There are dedicated spaces and resources at the learning center for pre-k education and a full-time pre-k director leading daily classes with the children.

Importance of Early Childhood Education

Early childhood education focuses on developing skills foundational for a child's future success, not only in an educational setting but in everyday life.

Develop Foundational Skills

Children learn to play, explore, ask questions and develop routines. They learn to count, recognize letters and develop lifelong friendships.
