What was it like visiting Lambaye for the first time?

On our first day in the village, we had a welcome ceremony. They sang us a song in english and we sang them a popular senegalese song. I will never forget, when we were singing they started clapping and singing along with us and they lit up the entire room. When we were done singing I went back to my seat and my friend fatou said to me in broken english “that was wonderful. i love you” and she gave me a hug. All of the kids in the village are so sweet, kind, and caring.
